AIDA Hellas announces the international freediving competition

The competition will be held on the 27th and 28th of September 2014 at Heraion in Loutraki (Gulf of Corinth). The competition is of type “International Open”, follows AIDA Rules, has official AIDA Ranking and will include CWT, CNF and FIM depth disciplines.
The organization of the event is supported by FreeDiving School.
The event consists of two competition days where the athletes will be able to compete in one depth discipline per day. Following the announcement of the official results of day one, the athletes will require to state their desired discipline and performance for the next competition day.
On the "Downloads" page you will find the AIDA competition regulations which you will need to know as well as all the necessary documents which you will need to fill out in order to compete.
On the "Inlist" page you will find the names, nationalities and official tops of all competitors. On the "Sponsors" page you will find all relevant sponsors. Results will be posted on the "Results" page.
Competition headquarters will be based at the hotel “Barbara” where competition briefing, result announcements and the award ceremony will take place. The athletes who wish to stay at the same hotel will require to book in advance and must contact the hotel directly (+3027440 64338/61895, [email protected]).
The maximum number of athletes allowed to compete is 40 per day. Priority will be strictly based on the date of competition fee payment.
Each athlete who wishes to compete must take all the following actions:
1) Sign Up: Athletes who wish to take place must send an email to [email protected] (or call or send an SMS to +306937422621 C. Papadopoulos) and they require to state: a) their intention to participate in the competition, b) their name, c) their nationality, and d) a contact number. Sign up will be acceptable until Monday 15th of September 2014.
2) Fee: The competition fee must be paid in advance and will be per competition day/attempt: (i) 30 EURO for AIDA Hellas members, (ii) 50 EURO for non-members and (iii) 20 EURO for new* athletes. The fee also includes: the event’s t-shirt and all the available footage from his/her performances. The fee does not include hotel stay; each athlete is responsible for choosing a desired hotel.
*A new athlete is defined as an athlete who has never before participated in apnea competitions in pool or sea, in Greece or abroad, at AIDA competitions or of any other organization.
Competitors may remit the relevant fee(s) (for one or two days) to the following bank account:
Your name and “LOUTRAKI 2014” must be clearly shown/stated.
The fee must be paid by Friday 19th of September 2014. Following the fee payment please notify AIDA Hellas via email to [email protected].
3) Performance Announcements: All athletes are required to send their official performance announcements for the first competition day by Tuesday 23rd of September 2014, 23:59 Greek time, through email to [email protected] only or SMS to +306944664684.
All announcements must include the following information:
· Discipline of choice (CWT/CNF/FIM)
· Official announced performance in meters.
· Personal best performance for the chosen discipline.
· Expected duration of performance.
Athletes may chose to compete in one of the three disciplines (CWT/CNF/FIM) per day. Athletes are allowed to compete in the same discipline both days if they wish to.
4) Registration: Each athlete will require on Friday 26th of September 2014 at the hotel where the competition’s briefing will be held, to: a) Present a valid medical certificate of the current year (2014) signed and sealed by a general practitioner or a cardiologist and clearly stating in writing that the athlete is “Capable and healthy for sport”. Photocopies will be acceptable only if they are validated or upon presentation of the original. . Medical certificates will be returned once the competition is over. b) Submit the “organizer’s liability release form” completed and signed. c) Sign the declaration for the Hellenic Coastguard (this states that you understand and accept the risks of freediving)
No athlete will be allowed to compete if he/she fails to submit the above documents.

Saturday 27th of September:
· 08:30 Arrival of first athlete at competition area
· 08:45 First warm up
· 09:30 Official Top
· 17:30 Announcement of results and objections (objections until 17:45)
· 18:30 Performance announcements for the second competition day
· 20:30 Athlete briefing
Sunday 28th of September:
· 08:30 – Arrival of first athlete at competition area
· 08:45 – First warm up
· 09:30 - Official Top
· 17:00 - Announcement of results and objections (objections until 17:15)
· Medal award ceremony
